ROLLING SOME SUMS

1. If you were to roll two 8-sided dice and find the sum, make a prediction of the sum that you think will occur most often. Make a prediction of the sum that you think would occur least often.

2. Roll the dice at least 64 times. Tally each sum that occurs in a chart.
a. Which sum(s) occurred most often?
b. Which sum(s) occurred least often?
c. Are your results what you predicted them to be?

3. Draw a bar graph of your results.

4. Make a probability table which “officially” shows the sums that SHOULD occur most often and least often.
a. Do the “real life” results of your bar graph match what the probability table says SHOULD have happened?
b. Why do you think this is?
