Bubba is a new student in Mr. Lomas’ math class. While Bubba is a relatively bright student, at his previous school, he had never studied probability. Your assignment is to write to Bubba and give him a foundation to help him study probability. You are being asked to define and give examples for each of the following terms:

To help you write your letter, you may refer to both your notes and the textbook. However, all examples you use must be your own (do not copy a problem or an example from the book!). The purpose of your letter is to assist Bubba in the study of probability — he has the same book you do, so just copying a definition or problem from the book does him no good.

You will be graded on the clarity of your examples and definitions. To check your work, you may wish to give your letter to a parent or someone who has not studied probability recently. If they can understand your definitions and examples then you probably have done well!

You may use a computer to type your paper, but you are not required to do so. Papers should be neatly written and easy to read — feel free to use color if it helps to make your example more easily understood.
