Hearst Elementary PTA

The goal of the Hearst PTA is to bring teachers and parents together to improve and enhance our children's school experience. We are able to achieve this goal by:

• Volunteering time and skills for school events and projects

• Hosting and organizing school functions

• Fostering communication between parents, staff, and the district

• Fundraising to help meet school needs

Fundraising at Hearst

The PTA needs to raise approximately $95,000 in order to ensure the success of our school programs. The following options are ways in which you can contribute and ultimately benefit our children. Please click on the blue highlighted links for more information.

Cash Donations: At Walk Thru Registration, we suggest a minimum donation of $50 per child, but we are grateful for whatever amount you are able to contribute. This money goes directly to fund the following:

General PTA Expenses Ongoing PTA sponsored programs: Reflections, Red Ribbon Week, Science Fair, Assemblies, Talent Show, Book Club, Monarch Publishing, Multi Cultural Fair Classroom Funding: including scholarships, classroom supplies, resources

• Fundraisers: participation in such fundraisers as Gift Wrap and “Starry Night” (a silent and live auction event), ensure the funding of the following programs which are vital to the kids’ education:

Technology Match: the district will match up to $10,000 to fund technological advances in the classrooms

Technology Specialist: funds provide extra hours for our technology specialist to maintain the computer lab and technology throughout the school.

Special Requests: this year (2008) we would like direct any extra funds raised from these two events towards a shade structure at the drop-off/pick-up area in the front of the school.

• Other ways to contribute throughout the year

E-Scrip participation: e-scrip generates $700 per month for our school. These funds will go towards “Hearst Wish List” items developed by our principal and school staff.

Recycling: bring in your plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The money raised through recycling will support our Science program and the Outdoor Garden, and Go Green efforts

Box Tops: collect Box Tops for Education and support our Reading Center.

Hearst Book Fair: this event occurs twice a year and the money raised goes directly to support our wonderful library.
