Closed Campus
Foothill High School is a closed campus. Students are expected to stay on campus for the duration of the school day, including lunchtime. The only time a student may leave campus is with parent permission (by phone call that day), with a pass from the office, for medical/illness reasons. Please refer to the discipline plan for the consequences of leaving campus without permission. Students will have opportunities to participate in a wide array of activities offered during lunchtime. Some examples are: expanded lunch offerings, intramural sports, academic tutoring, live music and entertainment, student recognition programs, clubs and organization meetings, school and community service.

Leaving campus
Foothill High School is legally responsible for its students during the school day and cannot allow students to leave campus without parental permission. Students must have a parent/guardian call the office prior to leaving. Students must also sign out in the office prior to leaving. Students failing to follow these procedures shall be considered truant and face consequences listed in the discipline plan.

Expectations of Students
One of the major objectives of formal education is that of teaching citizenship and responsibility for one ís actions. We believe this to be of primary importance in today ís society. It has been the custom for students at Foothill High School to recognize the appropriate conduct for a given situation and to conduct themselves accordingly. It is expected that this custom will continue and that students will exhibit the courtesy that has brought many compliments to our school.

At Foothill High School
1. Everyone has the right to learn (and no one has the right to interfere). 2. We believe that everyone ís dignity, welfare, and material possessions should be respected. 3. Everyone is expected to attend ALL scheduled classes. 4. Individual teachers may have additional expectations for appropriate behaviors.

Driving to School - Juniors & Seniors only
Juniors and Seniors who drive to school are required to have a signed parental permission slip on file in the Main Office. Qualifying students will be issued a Foothill Parking Permit to be visible from the front windshield of vehicle. Only registered Juniors and Seniors will be allowed to park on campus. Non-registered students, students who park in staff or visitor lots, and those who disobey the rules/laws of safety or courtesy will lose their parking privileges. The following rules are in effect pertaining to driving to and from school:

Foothill High School is a closed campus. Students may not leave school during school hours (including lunch) unless they have checked out of the office and issued a signed/dated pass. Students may lose parking privileges if they violate the closed campus rule. Observe speed limits - 10 mph in parking lots. Careless and reckless driving is prohibited. Infractions of this rule can result in suspension, traffic citations, towing of vehicle and loss of parking privileges. Illegally parked vehicles, i.e., fire lanes, handicapped, unassigned areas or not displaying a FHS parking sticker may be towed or ticketed. Parking is restricted to the designated student lot only, on a first come, first served basis. Only SENIORS displaying the Senior Parking Permit may park in the Senior Lot (this is on a first come, first served basis only). Junior and Senior students and their parents must read and sign the Foothill High School Vehicle Registration Form which will be kept on file in the Main Office.
