Jennifer R= oush, a counselor at Foothill HS spoke about the “40 Developmental AssetsR= 21;

150,000 stu= edents in grades 6-12 were surveyed and trends were found. These were categorized into t= he 40 assets.
There are 8 categories of assets= , 4 that focus on the external structures relationships, and activites that create a positive environment for= young people, and 4 that reflect internal values, skills, and beliefs that y= oung people need to fully engage with and function in the world around them= .
A handout was given with an over= view of “The asset approach”.
These assets can be worked on at= home, in a neighborhood, in school, as well as in the community as a whole.<= o:p>

Principal’s Address

Class placement forms= : these will not be available th= is year due to the uncertainty in staffing for 2009-2010.
Budget: 295 PUSD staff members are sch= eduled to be laid off, which includes 195 teachers. There will be 8-12 teachers a= t Donlon receiving notices of potential layoffs ne= xt week (by 3/15). Actual l= ayoffs will be given in May. Mr. Schweitzer is working on trying to keep moral up. If the parcel tax passes, he = will scramble to hire back teachers that were let go.
Rally: there is a rally on Sunday 3/8= at Valley Community Church at 4pm to show support for Pleasanton Schools.=
Denker sidewalk: The sidewalk has been widened = with money already earmarked for this project. (This money had to be used fo= r this project).

Science Fair: volunteers are needed. Please email Marti Scalise and she will forward it to the coordinat= ors.
Auction: 127 tickets have been sold so far. In addition, Donlon has received $755 in donations from peopl= e who cannot attend but wanted to donate.&n= bsp; 50% of the baskets have been turned in at this time.=

PFC Executive Board: next month will be nominations= . There are 7 people already committed to serving on the board.&nb= sp; Mr. Schweitzer will send out an e-connection and a sign-up board will be posted.
