FEBRUARY IS NATIONAL CTE MONTH ~ enter a free drawing in the Career Center to win a Jamba Juice or Starbucks gift card! Enter as many times as you visit the Career Center (one per day!) and receive a FREE pencil! Drawing takes place every Friday in February and LEAP DAY ~ 29th!

²Santa Clara University: Engineering for Sophomores and Juniors – Spring and Summer workshops

²Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory: 2012 High School Summer Internships ~ runs from June 13 through August 3, 2012 For more information: csee.lbl.gov Some restrictions apply.

²CSSSA: California State Summer School for the Arts ~ four week program in Valencia Applications must be postmarked before Feb 28, 2012

²Arthritis Foundation: now accepting applications for our 2012 Summer Science Internship Program.  This program places 12 outstanding students in leading rheumatology/immunology laboratories at the University California, San Francisco and Stanford University. ²Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Foundation has 3 different scholarships for $3k each for four years. Must be a graduating senior, other criteria apply. Applications due April 30, 2012

Is Your Future On Time? Come by for your academic planning checklist ~ Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors

 

SENIORS:  Mid-year transcripts (with first semester senior grades) are now available to send to your prospective colleges, BUT you must request that your mid-years be sent.  Please contact Ms. Jones, Mrs. Montague, or Ms. Graef, the Registrar, in the Counseling Office to request that your mid-years be sent to your colleges.

 

HONOR STUDENTS:  Honor students one and all! It is time to obtain and submit your applications for the Honor Society of Amador, the California Scholarship Federation. Freshmen are eligible to apply based on the grades from fall semester. Come to G 1 to pick up the application from Mrs. Hunt. The applications are due in three weeks, February 10, with the first meeting for the semester on February 16.   Seniors looking at life membership! Get yours turned in this semester!  Please come at lunch or after school to pick up or leave the application.

 

VISION SCREENING:  Vision screening for 9th grade Health Education students will beon February 15, 16, 17.  Additional students will also be tested.  Passes will be delivered to the classroom.

 

ACADEMIC BLOCK APPLICATIONS:  Academic block applications  are now available in the counseling office, front desk.  To earn an academic block, students accumulate points based on their GPA, participation in academic clubs and/or holding elected positions.   Please see application for complete details. Applications are DUE on Friday, March 2nd, 2012.

 

MULTI-LINGUAL RECOGNITION SEAL:  Applications are available in the counseling office for graduating seniors.  Due May 1.

 

FRENCH HONORS SOCIETY:  AVHS French Honors Society is now accepting applications for French 2 students. There will be an informational meeting Thursday , 2/9 , lunch time , in I3/ Madame Genard. Applications must be returned no later than 2/23.

 

COLORGUARD:  Do you like dance?  Martial arts?  Performing?  Theater, gymnastics or music?  Then colorguard at Amador might be the activity you are looking for.  Come learn more about joining the Fall 2012 competitive team at lunch on Thursday 2/9 in the band room.  No experience necessary and for the class of 2015, it may count as PE credit next year.

 

ART CLUB: Art Club meets this Friday in M6 during lunch. Be sure to bring in your cartoon character drawing!

 

It’s time for basketball on Tri-Valley TV

 Amador Valley at Cal, the third of four basketball games to air on Tri-Valley Community TV, will be taped on Friday, February 10th and air the next day. Tri-Valley Sports Final personalities Ian Bartholomew and George “Dr. B” Baljevich will be providing commentary. 

 

Tri-Valley TV30 will begin broadcasting the game on Comcast TV channel 30 and AT&T U-verse via channel 99 on Saturday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. In addition, the game is scheduled to stream live and be available via Video on Demand on the Tri-Valley TV website at www.trivalleytv.org.  DVDs of the games may also be purchased via the website.

 

 Amador Valley at Cal broadcast schedule:

 

Saturday, 7 p.m., Sunday at 5 pm., Tuesday at 9 p.m. and Thursday at 10 p.m.

 

PURPLE & GOLD HALLOWEEN:  On Friday the 17th be creative and dress up like you would for Halloween but in all purple and gold!  We play Foothill that night so wear your costume to the game.
