The California Healthy Kids Survey The Pleasanton Unified School District would like students in grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 to participate in the Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), sponsored by the California Department of Education. This very important survey, required by law, will help promote better health among our community’s youth and combat problems such as drug abuse and violence. Students are asked to take the survey very seriously. The survey has been approved by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, Office of the Attorney General, the Department of Health Services, and our local Board of Education. The District plans to administer the survey during October.
The survey will gather information on health-risk behaviors such as physical activity and nutritional habits; alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use; violence; and school safety. This survey’s results, along with the data from the surveys administered in prior years, will help the District to evaluate current programs, apply for grants, and plan for the future. There are no questions about family values. The survey is VOLUNTARY, ANONYMOUS, AND CONFIDENTIAL.
If you have questions about the survey, please call the Special Projects Office at (925) 426-4326.
