The Pleasanton Unified School District is part of the Tri-Valley Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), a consortium of participating school districts, which include:

The Tri-Valley SELPA was formed for the purpose of ensuring that quality special education programs and services are available throughout the Tri-Valley. These school districts coordinate services to identified special education children guarantying the provision of special education programs and services of sufficient size and scope as to meet the unique needs of the identified children from birth to 22 years of age residing within the Tri-Valley SELPA boundaries.

UNDERSTANDING AUTISM: PARENTING A CHILD WITH AUTISM/ASPERGER’S DISORDER

- about early intervention strategies and resources

Instructor: Christopher Brown, M.A., is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Pleasanton. He has a decade of experience working with children, teens, families, individual adults, and couples. Christopher has provided social skills groups, individual therapy and support to families with children diagnosed with Autism and Asperger’s Disorders in both agency, non-profit, and private practice settings.

January 24, 6:30 – 8:00 PM – “Project Search – Stepping Stone to Supported Employment”

This informational workshop provides an opportunity to learn about Project Search, an
innovative approach to supported employment taking place at Children’s Hospital, Oakland and the County of Alameda offices, Oakland. No pre-registration required. See attached flier. Free!
February 28, 6:30 – 8:00 PM - “Housing Options”
Pleasanton USD District Office Campus, 4665 Bernal Avenue, Bernal Room, Building 400.
Plan to join us for a family workshop where we will explore independent and supported living options as well as group home placements. Presenters will include representatives from RCEB, independent and supported living agencies and Tri-Valley REACH (formerly HOUSE, Inc.).

Plan to attend this informational/educational showcase to learn more about the transition
process and adult services in Alameda County. This informational faire is an opportunity for students with developmental disabilities, aged 14 – 22, their families, teachers, case managers and other interested persons to learn more about the transition process and adult service providers located in Alameda County.
